Wow I never thought I'd be doing this!
As some of you know, I was an avid musician (the last 2 years at Telopea I was in a jazz band called Take Five with Stephen Bisset, Stevie Maitland, Mark Quayle and an American dude whose name I can't remember but we called him Lazzo because of his neck, which would blow out like a bullfrog when he played trumpet). I think he was from a diplomat family and had to return to the States during the last year of high school. Sorely missed.
After I left Telopea, I got a scholarship and started to study my Diploma of Music at the Canberra Conservatorium but I got distracted by boys and dropped out during my second year of studies.
Moved to Adelaide to live with Charles Campbell, had a son and adopted him out, attempted suicide, moved back to Canberra, met the love of my life (John Gyffyn) and moved in with him and his wife. He and his wife divorced a few years later and John and I married. We have a daughter, Fyonna, who is now 35 and is my very best friend. John and I ran a recording studio at nights and weekends and were in the Bureau of Statistics during the week days. We then came in to Scientology and established the Church of Scientology in Canberra. We left in 1981 and moved to Paynesville (where is that?? you cry. It is near Lakes Entrance and is mega pretty!) We started a computer company together and made a lot of money and then went bankrupt in 1985 so we moved to Melbourne with $22.57, a leased company car, quarter of a tank of petrol, a 10 year old daughter and a dog. We got jobs within 24 hours of moving to Melbourne and took off in the computer industry. Meanwhile, I was also a freelance journalist in the music scene and wrote for the ABC, Rolling Stone magazine and various other publications. I travelled to Los Angeles twice to interview a band and eventually worked for a film composer as his musical assistant.
I then moved into the corporate scene and worked for Richard Pratt's company Visy Board as a superbitch executive assistant (stiletto heels, tight skirts, shoulder pads, a heavy drinking habit and a real attitude!). Played that game for 7 years and then quit as my husband and I wanted to work together again, running our own software company. We did that for 14 years and then John became very ill. We moved to Hobart for the fresh air and quiet lifestyle but I got bored shitless after 6 months so I became a legal secretary and a Justice of the Peace. John died after 4 years so I returned to Melbourne and came back into Scientology in 2006, continuing my studies and various activities (and still do). Workwise, I tend to nowadays enjoy working as a temp, taking up admin positions at universities especially. I love the variety and randomity.
I have 2 dogs called Tinka and Taylor who I love dearly and 2 grandchildren called BJ (Barry John) and Madeline Eve who I love but not as much as the dogs. I am still a musician and enjoy gardening at my little townhouse. I also like driving fast cars (alternatively, I like driving fast in cars that are not particularly quick). I used to own a Mazda RX-7 that I had tweaked by some maniacs who ran a rotary engine service shop here in Melbourne, and it went like the clappers! I have also owned 2 gold Mazda MX-5s (one after the other) that I loved, but currently I am being boring driving a Holden Cruze (which I call Tom) - but it can go fast!
And I am nearly 61 but I still remain about 24 internally! I am in the best of health and enjoy everything I do to the max!!
